Activities in Suffolk
Walking
This area of Suffolk has a wealth of footpaths, providing you with miles and hours of happy ramblings through forests, along beaches and over heaths and reserves.
Cycling
The joy of Suffolk is the lack of discernible hills! But those of you who know the area well will know that appearances can deceive! Be that as it may, the area around Snape and Aldeburgh is immensely popular with cyclists of all levels. If you really need an easy ride, Miranda will hire you an electric bike with helmet and high-vis jacket to match. No excuse now!
Watersports
Just down the Alde from The Maltings is Iken Canoe and Thorpeness Mere for “just messing about in boats”!
Food
When you’ve tired of all that exercise, there is a huge choice of eateries; some within walking distance!
Some in the local towns of Aldeburgh or Orford (10 minutes drive away) and some further afield in Southwold, Woodbridge or Framlingham. However, the option of relaxing at home and buying local produce for the barbeque or self-catering from Friday Street Farm.
Music
We are spoilt for choice in Snape and rarely a week goes by without a concert, show or workshop at Snape Maltings, The Jubilee Hall, Blythburgh or Orford Churches.
Performers and punters alike often stay at Abbey Farm for its proximity to Snape Maltings and the peaceful surroundings. You never know who you might encounter, or hear for that matter, as they warm up for the evening performance!
